The Pirate’s Dilemma icon was designed by Ji Lee. Ji is an incredible designer and artist, who has won a number of awards, written two books and is currently an Art Director at Droga5. He is also founder of The Bubble Project, something I discuss in the book, which is how I came to meet him.
The brief was to create a simple icon that portrayed the link between piracy and innovation. The arrows pointing in different directions symbolize the two-way exchange of information, and also decentralization, both recurring themes in the book.
In the spirit of the message behind The Pirate’s Dilemma, we’ve made the icon available under a Creative Commons license so others can use it too. If you’d like to copy it, change it or use it yourself for non-commercial purposes, feel free. Drop us an email if you have any questions or would like to use it for anything else, and please do send back any new versions you come up with so we can feature them on the site.
